Facebook has added yet another
feature that can help you cut through the clutter. After adding tools
that allow you to divide friends into different classifications or Groups, they have now added a filter that lets you select what type of information you want to see on your News Feed.
example, if you are most interested in seeing photos of friends and
family, then you can filter everything out so you just get photos and
nothing else. Similarly, if you just want status updates, then photos,
links and other information disappears and you just get the updates.
The filters are accessed through a new dropdown menu that is situated next to the Most Recent header at the top of your Home page.
more importantly, the filter allows you to customize your News Feed to
just include photos, updates and links from a select group of friends.
Once you set up a Group, it will automatically appear as an option under
the dropdown menu.
News Feeds created quite a privacy stir when
they first appeared back in 2005. Since then they have become one of
Facebook’s most popular features. However, as Facebook has grown – to a
point where the average user now has 130 friends – members need a way to
sort through the huge amount of information that appears on a daily
basis. With the new filters, Facebook users can now start to be a little
more selective. fo
