The most popular iPhone apps

As part of its Countdown to 10 Billion promotion for the App Store, Apple has listed the all-time best-selling apps for both the iPhone and the iPad. Although there are few surprises, the lists are notable for what’s included…and also what’s missing.

As the iPhone, and its companion device the iPod touch, have been around much longer than the iPad, the iPhone lists are arguably the best indicators of what has fueled the incredible app buying frenzy of the last couple of years. And as far as the paid list is concerned, there is just one answer: games, games, and more games.

Nine of the top ten paid iPhone apps are games, with Apple’s own utility app, AppBox Pro, being the odd man out. Doodle Jump leads the way, followed by Tap Tap Revenge 3, Pocket God, Angry Birds and Tap Tap Revenge 2.6. With three Tap Tap games in the top 10 and several other versions lurking not far behind, Tapulous, Inc. can no doubt make a valid claim for the overall best-selling game series.

If you are not into mobile gaming (yes – there are still some people that don’t play games on their phones!), then the free category might be of more interest. Not surprisingly, the mobile Facebook app holds down the top spot, presumably by a wide margin. The second most popular free app is the music service Pandora Radio, followed by Google Mobile App, Shazam (another music app), and Movies by Flixter.

Disappointingly for literary buffs, neither iBooks nor Kindle for iPhone made it into the top 20, although it can only be a matter of time before these relatively new apps push their way into the upper ranks. Surprisingly, sports scores and sports news apps are poorly represented, with ESPN Sports Center the only one to feature in the top 50.

But for parents of pre-teen boys, there is perhaps an even bigger surprise: none of the 80-plus iPhone “fart” apps made it into the top 20. For that, we can all be grateful!

Thanks for sharing this list! I love spotting my fave apps on top 10s. I'm sad though because I don't see my fave app anywhere. By the way, if it's alright, I'd like to recommend one of my current favorite apps, Intuition. Tagged as mom's personal assistant, it's a task management app that has many features designed to help us moms. It's really easy to use and it looks cute, too. Plus, it's free! You can check it out on http://www.iconapps.com/product.htm

As you may have guessed, it is made of titanium and some stainless steel¡ªthe case is titanium and the rolex replica sale is stainless steel. Synergy means cooperative action. This replica watches uk combines the best of the old and the new to deliver something uniquely modern. All of the classic elements are there. It has the sleek and stylish dial of the replica watches uk, the concave dot at the 12 o¡¯clock hour, and the Swiss quartz movement. But the Sapphire Synergy has something few breitling replica sale offer, a rubber wristband. Why rubber? Well, it¡¯s not a sport rolex replica sale, so using it outdoors is out of the question. But the informal band gives it a more casual look and feel, which can be quite appealing to the modern male.
