New Family Locator App for Android
Verizon Wireless today released a new Family Locator app for the Android platform. The app makes all the tracking features of Verizon’s highly-regarded Family Locator software available right there on your smartphone.
Family Locator is a secure service that allows parents to keep tabs on the whereabouts of family members by tracking their phones using GPS technology and Verizon’s own cell phone networks. The software comes with a host of features, including alerts when a family member arrives at or departs from a specific destination, like a school, a friend’s house, or soccer practice.
A family member’s location can be displayed as an address or as a point on a conventional or aerial map. Verizon smartphone users can also get turn-by-turn directions to the location using VZ Navigator.
Until now, users had to visit the Family Locator website or the Family Locator Mobile website to see maps and locations. Now, with the Family Locator app, they can get all that information and more on a customized Android interface.
The Android app is compatible with a wide range of Android phones, including Motorola Droid phones, the HTC Incredible and Incredible 2 and the Samsung Fascinate. (Users can visit the Android Market website for a full list of compatible devices.)
The Family Locator app is for subscribers who have already signed up for the Family Locator service. The service costs $9.99 a month per locatee line. There is no charge for the locator line. For more information, visit the Family Locator website.

Now spouses can see exactly where their spouses are all the time unless they have accidently left their phone at the restaurant.
