App of the Week - Where’s My Water

By Sarah Combs:

Have you ever wondered how subterranean alligators bathe? Neither have we.

This question becomes much more pressing when one begins playing Where’s My Water, an incredibly fun and surprisingly challenging game where the mission is to help a sewer-dwelling alligator, Swampy, find water for his shower. Alligators apparently feel the need to take a hot bath with their rubber ducks every now and again too. Who knew?

Disney created the app, and it becomes clear very early on that this long-time favorite of kids and adults alike hasn’t lost a beat when making its move to the mobile scene. Everything from the design, storyline, game play and challenge range is spot-on. Swampy is endearing and his rubber ducks even more so; it becomes crucial that this poor alligator finds water for his shower.

Players dig tunnels through subterranean layers of dirt in order to guide water into Swampy’s shower. Extra points are gained by capturing rubber ducks along the way, and tricky situations are met when players advance to levels that include poison (that definitely should not be mixed with Swampy’s bath water!) and some troublesome underground vegetation that will absorb the water before it can reach Swampy and his ducks. Secret treasures that are hidden throughout the levels add some bonus fun, poke around on each screen to see if you can find any cool stuff!

Don’t be fooled by the cute characters and the Disney name, this seemingly simple physics-based puzzle is deceptively difficult. Users young and old alike will be engaged and challenged by the numerous different scenarios that keep Swampy from his much-desired bath water. Where’s My Water is ridiculously addictive too, with enough levels to keep a person playing for way longer than they should and will keep them entertained for as long as they’d like.

This app has been on the top of both the Apple and Android charts for a while now, and with good reason. The clean layout, universally appealing graphics, sounds and story, and that unidentifiable Disney magic should make Where’s My Water an instant family favorite.

One thing to take note of: Parents may want to watch out for the ability to purchase more levels within the game. They’re entitled “Cranky’s Story” and it’s pretty easy for kids to navigate to the buy button since this is the first featured level within the app.

Where’s My Water is recommended for Toddlers, Kids, Tweens, Teens and Parents (players of any age) for engaging game play and universal fun. Find screenshots, reviews and family-friendly ratings for Where’s My Water and more of the best Android apps at Famigo.com.
