7 Cool Features On the New BlackBerry Q10

By Paul O’Reilly

The BlackBerry Q10 just became available on Verizon Wireless’s 4G LTE network, bringing smiles to the faces of all those BlackBerry fans that longed for the Z10 but couldn’t live without the beloved BlackBerry keyboard.

But although the Q10 looks and feels like a traditional BlackBerry device (albeit with a bigger screen), don’t be fooled. It’s packed with enough state-of-the-art applications and eye-opening tricks that even die-hard iPhone and Android users will sit up and take notice. Here are a few of my favorite features:

  • Type and Go
If you want to initiate an action or search for anything, there’s no need to scroll through multiple screens or look for the browser icon. Just start typing and the Q10 will find what you’re looking for. Want to send an e-mail? Just type ‘email’ and the name of the person you want to send to and the Q10 will automatically open a new e-mail addressed to that person. Type ‘FB’ to reach Facebook, ‘TW’ to open Twitter, or just start typing your search term and the Q10 will do the rest.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts
Talking of that keyboard, there are literally dozens of Keyboard Shortcuts covering virtually every core BlackBerry application. Whether you’re in Calendar, File Manager, Adobe Reader, Hub, BBM or any one of over 20 different Q10 functions, Keyboard Shortcuts will save you time and simplify your task. Sure there’s a learning curve, but most shortcuts are so intuitive (T=Top, B=Bottom, S=Search) that they only need to be used once before they are memorized.
  • Camera Pinch-to-Zoom
Every touchscreen smartphone has pinch-to-zoom, but not everyone smartphone incorporates it into the camera function. Want to take a close-up? Just pinch-and-spread in camera mode and the Q10 will zoom in. Want to zoom out? Just pinch-and-close. A progress bar indicates the zoom level, so you can precisely measure the image you want.
  • Time Shift
Maybe the coolest smartphone feature I’ve come across in a long time, Time Shift automatically captures images just before and just after you take a picture, so you can select the image you like the best. If you’re happy with your picture but not happy with the way someone looks, you can keep the image but choose a different headshot from the before or after frames. On-screen editing has never been easier (or more fun!).
  • BBM Video Chat Screen Share
BBM video chat on Verizon’s 4G LTE network is smooth and easy but now Screen Share allows you to show the person you’re chatting with exactly what you’re seeing on your own screen. Just choose Screen Share during a chat and then switch to your photos, files, web pages, or anything else you want to share. To get back to regular video chat, just tap the video chat icon.
  • Intelligent Calendar
When you create a new appointment, the Q10 suggests who to invite based on your existing meetings and events and who you invited last time. It will even show you your friends’ recent messages and social updates, so you can make your invitation friendlier and more personal!
  • BlackBerry Remember
BlackBerry Remember is the ultimate smartphone organizer, allowing you to collect photos, lists, messages, and files in separate groups, which can then be synced with Outlook, Calendar and other cloud-based services like Evernote. The Q10 keyboard makes locating, tagging and grouping files that much easier.

As you may have guessed, it is made of titanium and some stainless steel¡ªthe case is titanium and the rolex replica sale is stainless steel. The dial is brown, the watch hands are silver-toned, and there is a date window at the four o¡¯clock position. The sapphire case protects the breitling replica sale from water damage up to 30 meters. Synergy means cooperative action. This replica watches uk combines the best of the old and the new to deliver something uniquely modern. All of the classic elements are there. It has the sleek and stylish dial of the replica watches uk, the concave dot at the 12 o¡¯clock hour, and the Swiss quartz movement. But the Sapphire Synergy has something few breitling replica sale offer, a rubber wristband. Why rubber? Well, it¡¯s not a sport rolex replica sale, so using it outdoors is out of the question. But the informal band gives it a more casual look and feel, which can be quite appealing to the modern male.
