Happy Holidays with FiOS!
I love having all my family around me over the Holidays but I would be the first to admit that keeping everyone happy and entertained can put a little extra strain on the Holiday spirit. At least that’s how it used to be before digital devices and a super-fast Internet came to the rescue!
Although the idea of everyone sitting around the TV watching a classic Christmas movie is a nice thought, that’s not how it actually works – at least not in my house. With over 300 TV channels to choose from, plus streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu Plus, everyone’s entertainment choices have expanded far beyond Jimmy Stewart and It’s A Wonderful Life.
Luckily the number and versatility of individual screens have kept pace with our home entertainment options. The new Verizon FiOS Mobile app allows us to select free and subscription On Demand content from anywhere in the house, as well as the ability to browse the ever-growing Flex View library of movies and TV shows. We can even use the app to turn our smartphones and tablets into remote controls for our TVs and DVRs.
And that growing list of screens is not confined to mobile devices. With a subscription to FiOS TV, FiOS Internet and Xbox LIVE Gold membership, you can now stream live TV directly from both the new Xbox One and the Xbox 360.
Even though it felt like the whole world was staying over for the Holidays, we still have friends and family in far-off places. Luckily, the high-speed FiOS Internet service had no trouble handling all those Skype and Face Time chats. It’s amazing how seeing someone on an HD screen can help shrink the miles!
The Holidays are traditionally a time for peace and goodwill and nowhere is that more important than inside the family home. However, this year seems to have been exceptionally peaceful and I’m happy to give an appreciative nod of thanks to FiOS!
