It’s a FiOS Super Bowl Party!
I love Super Bowl Sunday. With lunch time gatherings, the hours-long build-up to kick-off, and the highly anticipated half-time show, it feels like one long party. (Oh yes, and there’s also a football game in there somewhere.) Super Bowl Sunday may never be recognized as an official public holiday but it sure feels like one!
This year we are hosting a few friends and family at our house, so the pressure’s on to make sure the glasses are filled and there’s plenty of food to last into the night. There’s also pressure to make sure everyone has a good vantage point to watch the game and those highly entertaining commercials. Luckily, I don’t have to worry about that, as FiOS TV delivers crystal clear HD picture and sound to every TV in the house.
But a TV Super Bowl is no longer the only option. Mobile devices are giving us different ways to consume our media. Instead of everyone gathering around a static media outlet, the media is coming to us. Whether we want to watch on a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone, faster networks and smarter apps are allowing us to decide when and where we watch our favorite shows.
This year, the NFL and Fox Sports have embraced the digital possibilities and are streaming Super Bowl XLVIII across a variety of different platforms. First, FoxSports.com will be carrying the entire game live and free of charge. Just log in on your desktop or mobile device and you can get the exact same coverage that everyone else gets on TV.
If you prefer to watch on your iPad or iPod touch, then download the free Fox Sports Go app, although you will need to subscribe to one of Fox Sports Go partners.
Finally, there is the NFL Mobile app for Verizon Wireless customers. For the second year in a row, NFL Mobile is carrying the Super Bowl live. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. For $5 per month, you also get a slate of regular season games, highlight shows and updates, the amazing NFL RedZone, and access to a huge archive of NFL video.
But all these apps and online streaming options are only as good as the network you run them on, and that’s where Verizon FiOS comes in. With FiOS TV and FiOS Internet, I know that I have every possibility covered. Whether my guests show up with their tablets, their smartphones or just a bag of popcorn, I’ll make sure they see Super Bowl XLVIII exactly the way they want to!
