Game of the Week - Trivial Pursuit by Electronic Arts

Electronic Arts finally released their much-anticipated Trivial Pursuit video game on March 10th. The game is available for all the popular gaming platforms, including the Xbox 360, PlayStation2, PlayStation3, and the Nintendo Wii. Trivial Pursuit represents another welcome step by EA towards taking a dominant role in producing family-orientated video games.

The game stays true to the original Hasbro board game classic that has been so popular over the past 25 years but adds some new categories, new questions, and 3 different modes of play. There’s the Classic, which mimics traditional board game play; Clear the Board, a single-player experience that challenges players to race against the clock to earn multipliers for the highest possible score; and Facts & Friends, a multiplayer mode of play, where scoring is based on team responses and guessing the opposing team’s ability to answer their trivia question correctly.

The game also allows players to track and analyze performance statistics, such as the number of games won, a player’s best category, and the percentage of questions answered correctly in each category. A ticker rolls at the bottom of the screen throughout game-play, keeping players informed about how they stack up against the competition.

EA will be making download packs available to extend the number of questions for each format.

Trivial Pursuit is priced at $39.99 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and the Wii. The PlayStation2 version is available for $29.99. The game is rated “E” for Everyone and is available at all the major retailers.
