Game of the Week - Guitar Hero: Metallica

If you are a video gamer and like heavy rock music, chances are you already have one of the Guitar Hero series of games in the house.  Either one of the originals, Legends of Rock, World Tour, or Aerosmith. If you do, then you are going to love Guitar Hero: Metallica!

Featuring 28 tracks from the heavy metal band and 21 additional “guest” tracks, Metallica is the definitive playlist for the Guitar Hero format. Long blistering guitar solos, accompanied by fierce drumbeats, bass lines and vocals, provide GH fans with the perfect challenge in both guitar and full-band modes.

Guitar Hero: Metallica is more than just a track-pack, though. There are significant improvements to the user-interface since World Tour and the graphics are outstanding. (Hard core Metallica fans will instantly recognize the individual mannerisms of band members!) There are also original “Metallifacts” and behind-the-scenes video footage to accompany each track.

The game has many of the same features from World Tour, including the single-player and band Career modes, online competitive modes, and the ability to create and share songs through "GHTunes". In addition to the normal difficulty levels presented in Guitar Hero World Tour, Metallica provides an "Expert+" difficulty for drums that requires the use of a second bass drum pedal to match the drumming style of Metallica's Lars Ulrich.

Most of the Metallica classics are here, including Enter Sandman, One, and Master of Puppets. Guest artists include Alice In Chains, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foo Fighters and Thin Lizzy. As we suggested earlier, if you already like rocking out in your living room, this is a must. If you’re a beginner or haven’t tried Guitar Hero yet, then this is definitely jumping in at the deep end!
